Description

Fundraising is meaningful but often challenging work. Support from mentors has long been one of the primary ways fundraisers learned to thrive in the profession. Yet, many fundraisers -- especially those in smaller organizations or rural communities -- feel isolated from others in the field. They often find participation in formal professional associations prohibitive due to membership cost or distance.

As part of a larger research project on the fundraising profession, we discovered how fundraisers create informal professional networks to access professional development and mentoring. These peer networks provide coaching and opportunities to share fundraising knowledge and resources while also offering personalized attention, friendship, and a safe space to recharge.

Join "pracademics" Heather O'Connor and Sarah Nathan, both Ph.Ds. in Philanthropic Studies, in a lively discussion about creative approaches to peer mentoring, including how to foster meaningful peer networks among fundraisers in your community.
