Board Nomination Form--2019 Term

AFP Western is currently recruiting volunteers for the 2019 Board of Directors.  The Board is comprised of talented AFP members who plan and implement programs that support the professional growth of our members and whose support helps to advance the fundraising profession in our region. The full board meets five times a year, while executive committee members meet seven times a year.  Chapter members can log into the Members Only section of the chapter website for job descriptions that pertain to various positions on the Board. We look forward to hearing from you!

Applications must be received by September 7, 2018

Application Process:

  1. Complete the 2019 Board of Directors application.  Only AFP WPA Chapter members in good standing are eligible to apply.
  2. A member of the AFP Committee on Directorship will contact you to discuss your application and areas of interest.
  3. Applicants will be notified on or before September 21, 2018, with results of nomination status.
  4. A proposed slate of 2019 Board of Directors will be compiled by the Committee on Directorship and emailed to the membership by September 25, 2018.  Only AFP WPA members in good standing are eligible to vote.
  5. The 2019 Board of Directors slate will be formally approved by the membership at the AFP WPA Chapter annual meeting on October 25, 2018.

Board Member Expectations

  • Attend the board orientation and annual planning meeting.
  • Attend and participate in board meetings on a regular basis. (Meetings are held approximately 8 times per year and special meetings may be scheduled as needed)
  • Attend and support chapter events and programs, including National Philanthropy Day and the Emerging Philanthropy Conference.
  • Chair or serve on at least one committee of the board.
  • Understand the policies and procedures of AFP.
  • Become familiar with AFP’s finances, budget, and resource needs.
  • Help to communicate and promote AFP’s mission and programs to the community.
  • Maintain accurate records of the position’s duties, responsibilities and achievements.
  • Make a personal financial gift to the “Be the Cause” AFP Foundation campaign.
  • Consider participating in the Chapter’s Mentoring Program.

Term of Service:

Directors shall serve one year terms. No director may serve more than eight years consecutively on the chapter board unless also serving as president, president-elect or immediate past president. A one-year break in service is required otherwise.

All board members are asked to chair or serve on at least one committee of the board. There also may be vice president or assistant vice president openings.  Please indicate below the chapter activities that interest you. Select all areas that interest you and rank in numerical order, with “1” being your most preferred areaA member of the Committee on Directorship will contact you to discuss what roles might suit you for the coming year.
