Annual Giving Coordinator

FUNCTION:
Provides fundraising support for the entire ACHIEVA Family of corporations. Ensures good donor relations by assisting with and researching development opportunities, by soliciting gifts, representing the organization in meetings or public events, and by assisting in planned giving, major gifts, fundraising events, and grantsmanship as needed. Establishes processes and procedures in areas such as gift reporting and acknowledgment procedures and maintains the quality of the information in the fundraising database. Reports to Director of Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Interacts with board members, donors, media and the general public in a manner that portrays a positive image of the ACHIEVA corporate system in order to maximize support for the organization.
  2. Coordinates federated campaigns and workplace giving, including United Way, Combined Federal Campaign, and PA State Employee campaign drives.
  3. Creates donor stewardship through acknowledgment of contributions via United Way, Direct Mail, Honor/Memorial, and Special Events. Writes and revises letters to address particular needs.
  4. Oversees the importation of program database data into the fundraising database every month including duplicate checking, quality control of the data, and hand-coding some of the attributes.
  5. Researches and maintains prospect research profiles on current and potential donors.
  6. Records all charitable contributions and acts as a Corporate Development liaison with the finance department. Checks and records any changes in constituent data. Reconciles daily and monthly transaction journals with Finance Department to ensure the accuracy of donor information. Designates gifts to appropriate accounts in accordance with donor wishes.
  7. Monitors donor pledges and prepares invoices/reminders as needed for annual gifts and pledges and capital campaign gifts and pledges.
  8. Maintains purchase orders and check requests for the Corporate Development department.
  9. Maintains capital campaign records.
  10. Maintains membership files; prepares reports to the Arc of PA; coordinates membership correspondence.
  11. Represents and promotes the organization at community events or activities through public speaking and displays.
  12. Meets with annual fund donors to build relationships, promote stewardship, and increase donor relations.
  13. Develop and lead an innovative plan to increase gifts from other sources such as United Way, the Combined Federal Campaign and tribute giving and the Highmark Walk.
  14. Researches and maintains prospect research profiles on current and potential donors.
  15. Provides leadership and support where needed for ACHIEVA’s fundraising events such as the ACHIEVA Golf Outing, the ACHIEVA Auction, and other events held by community groups that raise funds for ACHIEVA.
  16. Oversees ACHIEVA’s participation in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community including soliciting gifts, recruiting participants, coordinating volunteers, and production of materials with the assistance of communications staff.
  17. Represents Corporate Development on internal and external teams and committees.
  18. Supports the achievement of individuals’ personal outcomes.
  19. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
The equivalent of Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business or related field from an accredited university or a combination of education and 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and experience with volunteer management necessary. Must have excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Desktop publishing and design skills is a plus.  Must meet Act 34 requirements. Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and properly insured auto available for daily use. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools required.
