The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University is seeking an Assistant Dean for Development. The Assistant Dean will be responsible for generating gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.  In consultation with the Dean of the Eberly College, the incumbent will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive development plan to reach the college’s strategic fundraising goals of 5 to 7 million.  The incumbent will supervise a staff of development professionals, prepare and administer a development budget, work with the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences administrators, chairs, directors, faculty, and staff, and coordinate efforts with the WVU Foundation to identify and cultivate donors and develop and implement annual giving and communication plans.

A master’s degree is required. Candidates must also have at least five years of experience in development and a history of successful major gift solicitations. Preference will be given to candidates with greater experience in managing frontline fundraising staff; experience with programs in higher education; and experience at a comprehensive university. The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills,  working knowledge of planned giving vehicles and methods, excellent oral and written communication skills, and financial planning and management.
