WC&S is a comprehensive domestic violence program serving over 8,000 adult and child survivors of domestic violence annually & facilitating intervention groups to over 500 men who batter. All staff learn about and support the organization’s mission, guiding principles, and values, as well as the tenets of Women’s Center Business System (WCBS), and are sensitive to cultural and workplace harmony and infusing principles of Sanctuary (a model for providing trauma-informed care) into their daily interactions with clients and co-workers.

Provides administrative and logistical support to Women’s Center & Shelter’s Development Team as well as to the STANDING FIRM program. This is a great entry-level position for a candidate interested in a career in nonprofit fundraising and/or communications

Grants Manager & STANDING FIRM Director


Grant Responsibilities:

  • Attend monthly grant meetings
  • Update grant tracking documents on an ongoing basis
  • Write and mail thank you letters and maintain electronic files for award documents
  • Compile all documents needed for grant submissions/mail grant submissions
  • Update general operating proposals and reports at the beginning of the fiscal year
  • Write drafts for smaller grant projects that come up throughout the year
  • Review grant tracking process, suggest improvements, and write tracking pre-specified work (a step-by-step guide)
  • Interview clients and gather client testimonials on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with timelines and work with program staff to meet deadlines


Additional Development Responsibilities:

  • Assist with gift processing and mailings
  • Gather social media content
  • Responsible for development department inventory
  • Administrative and logistical support for special events (mailings, signage, solicitation of silent auction items and wine donations, etc.)
  • Administer the cell phone donation program (inventory, donor thank you’s, organizing volunteers to pack cell phones, ship cell phones)
  • Administrative and logistical support for committee meetings, including development, communications and special event committees (set up conference call dates/times, take meeting minutes)


STANDING FIRM Event and Communication Support Activities:

  • Support event planning of the Stand Up for STANDING FIRM luncheon
  • Update contact information for sponsorships
  • Assist with invitations and guest lists
  • Maintain event timeline and task completion log
  • Support communication with donors, guests and planning partners
  • Administratively support the SF communications plan
  • Gather social media and newsletter content
  • Execute SF communication plan
  • Create and schedule social media posts (FB, LinkedIn and Twitter)
  • Maintain updated distribution lists and member contact information
  • Newsletter preparation and website updates


  • Meet regularly with the Grants Manager & STANDING FIRM Director to receive, review and prioritize tasks
  • Assure that JARS (Justice, Autonomy, Restoration and Safety) is utilized in all departmental activities
  • Adhere to the WC&S Code of Professional Conduct
  • Create pre-specified work (step-by-step instructions) for daily job functions in accordance with the Women’s Center Business System
  • Perform other duties as assigned



  • Minimum of Associate’s Degree required
  • One year work experience or internship at a nonprofit organization preferable
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Ability to remain flexible in a high-paced environment
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Has a working knowledge or ability to learn fundraising and constituent relationship management in Raiser’s Edge
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Sensitive to domestic violence and cultural diversity issues
  • Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances required
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends


  • This position is full time and non-exempt.
  • Salary is $30,000 - $33,000 annually.
