La Roche College is currently seeking candidates for the position of Development Officer within the Institutional Advancement Division. The Development Officer will be responsible for building meaningful relationships with constituents that will lead to the solicitation of financial gifts in support of La Roche College's mission and strategic priorities.

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the ideal Development Officer will be a motivated and proven professional with excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and time-management skills. This position is considered full time, exempt, and is eligible for applicable full time benefits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate alumni, parents, and friends of La Roche College, including those who have the capacity to support the growth of the College.
  • Solicit gifts for annual support, the President's Circle ($1,000 and above), and for major gifts toward College campaign priorities.
  • Identify target pools of alumni, parents and friends through available research tools and other methods.
  • Reach out to targeted constituents by phone, e-mail, and personal letters and set up discovery meetings with interested constituents; validate and confirm results of preliminary research as to prospects' capacity.
  • Spend significant amount of time away from the office (in addition to traveling), including in-person visits to establish and enhance meaningful relationships.
  • Listen to and understand the specific interests of donors and prospects and correlate these interests to fundraising priorities.
  • Recognize areas of interest, affinity, and commonality between prospects and the College; invite and engage prospects at pertinent special events.
  • Work with advancement staff, college administration and faculty to involve donors and prospects in the mission of La Roche College.
  • Performance will be evaluated on quality and quantity of contacts, relationship development and funds raised.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; minimum 3 years of successful fundraising experience, preferably in higher education
  • Familiarity with gift/prospect management processes
  • Experience with and record of making calls, conducting face to face visits, soliciting/closing gifts and building relationships
  • Ability to interact proficiently and competently with a diverse population of donors, prospects, faculty, staff and students
  • Excellent communication (including listening), organization, project/time management and analytical skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge software a plus
  • Must possess enthusiasm, motivation, positive attitude and high degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel, work evenings, weekends and other non-traditional hours
  • Valid driver's license required
