As a community of inclusion, the Emerging Philanthropy Conference (EPC) seeks, embraces, and engages diverse individuals, groups, and organizations with a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, thoughts and cultures within the fundraising profession. Through this strategic initiative, EPC is committed to activities that increase awareness of diversity issues.

Co-presented by the AFP of Western Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council, EPC is providing five (5) $100 Diverse Communities Scholarships to provide financial assistance to attend the 2018 conference for fundraising professionals or nonprofit executive directors who are themselves members of a diverse community, or are employed by grassroots organizations that primarily serve diverse populations, and are not members of AFP or Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council.

  • Fundraising professional who self identifies as coming from an eligible diverse community as defined by AFP (African-American/Black, Asian, Disabled, Faith-based, Hispanic, Jewish, LGBT+, or Rural) employed by a nonprofit organization.
  • Fundraising professional or executive director employed by a nonprofit organization where 50% or more staff members are from that diverse community.
  • Employed by a nonprofit organization that serves a 50% or more eligible AFP diverse community client base.

  • Employed as a full-time fundraising professional, nonprofit executive director whose responsibilities include fundraising, or spends at least fifty percent of time fundraising for employer.
  • Not a member of AFP or Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council.
  • Understand that this may be a partial scholarship of conference fees and that scholar may be required to find additional funds needed to attend this conference.
  • Understand that if selected as a 2018 EPC Diverse Communities Scholarship winner, that scholar will attend all required sessions at the Emerging Philanthropy Conference and complete an evaluation.

EPC attendees will receive a $139 room rate at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Southpointe. Call 724-743-5000 and reference the Emerging Philanthropy Conference. Guest rooms enjoy in-room hospitality center, free WiFi, indoor pool, and fully equipped fitness center.

AFP WPA & PPGC's annual conference supports fundraising and allied professionals through education, technology, networking, career and professional development opportunities, and guidance for ethical and donor-focused philanthropy.
