Great organizations not only pursue their mission, but inspire leaders in the community become an advocate for their cause.  Mr. Lammie reflects on his own engagement in the nonprofit community as well as his best experiences with nonprofits.  His views on Board leadership and expectations will help you identify key strategies to attracting and retaining Executive volunteers.

Since September, 1990, Mr. Lammie has held key business, financial, and operational leadership positions at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center(UPMC) which have supported the Health System's evolution, growth, and development into one of the nation's leading integrated delivery and financing health systems.

Upon graduation in 1976 from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Mr. Lammie pursued a public accounting career. Since 1977, Mr. Lammie has been licensed in Pennsylvania as a Certified Public Accountant.  Mr. Lammie's previous positions have included: Senior Vice President, Finance, UPMC; Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, UPMC Diversified Services; Managing Director, UPMC Health Ventures; Director, Litigation Services, Coopers & Lybrand; and Senior Manager, Arthur Andersen & Co.  Mr. Lammie’s current professional affiliations include the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Public Accountants, and Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Mr. Lammie is active in various volunteer board leadership capacities with non-profit civic, economic development, and community service organizations supporting the greater Pittsburgh community.  Current Board Affiliations include: Laurel Highlands Council Boy Scouts of America, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Hill House Association, Little Sisters of the Poor, Manchester Bidwell Corporation, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Urban Innovation21, United Way of Allegheny County Impact Cabinet, Duquesne University, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Corporate Circles Board and The Forbes Funds.  Mr. Lammie has also been recognized as a member of the Century Club of Distinguished Duquesne University Alumni, Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award, a Western Pennsylvania Association of Fundraising Professionals Distinguished Volunteer Fundraiser, and by Bidwell Training Center with their Fabric of Our Community Award.

Scott and his wife, Susan, have three sons: Michael, Ryan and Cory.
